Ciné-Magique

cine magique “Ciné-Magique”
December 4-5-6, 2008

Presented by M.I.K.E (Miami International Kids Entertainment) and the Alliance Française at their new location on Calle Ocho.

The Alliance Française and M.I.K.E are collaborating on a new type of festival for the children: Ciné-Magique which will take place at the new Alliance Française on December 4-5-6, 2008. Both organizations have the same vision which is to create an annual, independent cultural festival.

With the collaboration of local organizations and schools, our goal is to reach  children who speak French, English, Spanish and any other language.

“Ciné-Magique” will introduce children and their families to a variety of films and entertainment options, including student-made films, videos, animation,  software, and cultural/multilingual interactivities.

Based on a Francophone selection of movies and artists, the “Ciné-Magique” festival’s goal is to enhance the self-esteem of the participants and to encourage critical thinking.  The festival will be deeply rooted in the French and we hope to enrich and encourage the careers of young artists and filmmakers.

The three primary components that make up the core curriculum of the Festival are:
- A Francophone movie festival
- Q&A with artists
- Interactive workshops with artists or writers.

Ciné-Magique will showcase movies ranging from shorts to feature length movies to documentaries. We will incorporate lectures and discussions in order to stimulate the children’s imaginations.  The interactive Q&A will encourage children to use creativity and critical thinking while participating in the creation of works with instructors and other participants.
