About the organization

It's all about movies!

Red Chemistry, Inc.
is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization. Our mission is to promote the art of filmmaking by providing a forum for little-known or independent filmmakers to present their films at our independently produced Florida film festivals.
Red Chemistry produces film festivals that are designed to educate the public about the work of little-known filmmakers, to support the work of film students through their participation in film festivals and to expand the scope of the festival’s activities to venues throughout Florida. We strive to help the children and teenagers in the community to develop their creative abilities as well as their appreciation of the arts.

Our goals

Promote the Art and Enjoyment of International Film to the Miami Beach Community
Through specifically themed film festivals organized by the Red Chemistry, Inc.: “Romance in a Can,” Miami’s unique Romantic Film Festival, and M.I.K.E. (Miami International Kids Entertainment) - we will provide a forum for filmmakers and film lovers to come together to view new, challenging and undiscovered works.

Support the Work of Young Filmmakers: To present to the public the work of talented, yet-to-be discovered filmmakers, and to support the work of young film students by showcasing their work at Red Chemistry Inc. film festivals.

Encourage Miami Beach Children/Teens to create and enjoy International Film Through screenings, competitions and interactive discussions, we will cultivate a creative vision to expose children and teenagers in our community to the arts, especially film, to help them cultivate and experience their own creative abilities.

2008-09 Films and Art events

Romance in a Can:
Launched in February 2007, Romance in a Can is Miami's first and only romantic movie festival. In its second year, Romance in a Can presented screenings of 25 international feature films at the Byron Carlyle Theater, Colony Theater, Alliance Française, Miami Beach Cinematheque, Wolfsonian Museum, Books & Books Coral Gables, along with various special events throughout the community (in Miami Beach and Miami hotels).
The festival showcases the talents of exceptional filmmakers and offers interactive discussions after the film screening.

Short Film Competition:
Throughout the second half of each year, film students from throughout the world are invited to submit a short romantic film. A jury panel comprised of industry professionals and students will select the winning films in two categories, Animation and Narrative.
The winning movies will be showcased on MTV’s website “Staying Alive.org” at the conclusion of the Romance in a Can film festival, with trophies and $2000 cash prizes to be awarded for the Best Romantic Feature and the Best Romantic Short.

Festivals Focused on Children and Teens:

Miami International Kids Entertainment (M.I.K.E.)
Create and expand the Miami International Film Festival for Children at the Miami Children’s Museum. This film festival will include a selection of international short films, independent foreign films, American long feature films and documentaries. This includes a program of shorts produced by the children, along with an awards ceremony.
Art Festivals
Develop the Art Festival’s section for children at the Coldwell Banker Miami Beach festival of the Arts with artistic workshops for children; develop film programs in partnership with agencies and/or social organizations such as Ayuda Inc. for their “family empowerment program”, with Miami Beach Senior high schools, DASH and Miami Art Institute for the romantic short film competition.
Promote the Work of Young and Unknown Artists
Promote the work of unknown artists or independent filmmakers through the festivals in relationship with other organizations who did not obtain their 501(C)3 yet or with distribution companies in the U.S to boost the movie’s theatrical release or TV release.
